Engineered Ropes
Offspring International supplies engineered fibre ropes and terminations for a range of heavy lift and subsea tethering applications. By optimising the rope's fibre material, construction and choice of termination, we are able to provide installation contractors with customised engineered ropes for a specific break load, and application.
Synthetic ropes offer significant handling advantages over wire ropes: easier and safer to handle, and quicker to deploy offshore. Torque balanced Lankhorst 12 strand and jacketed Gama® 98 ropes are available in a range of materials: HMPE, Aramid, LCP, polyester and nylon. The 12 strand rope can be supplied with and without braided abrasion resistant jackets.
On-going rope research and development
Offspring International and world leading manufacturer of offshore ropes, Lankhorst Ropes Offshore Division, have the experience, know-how and technical resources to ensure on-going research and development into fibre rope slings. The company is continually researching the optimisation of fibre ropes slings with respect to the effect of reduced d:D ratio, fatigue life (number of lifts), and the effect of working over different interfaces such as shackle pin, shackle bow, sling saver shackle and crane hook.
Engineered rope applications supported by Offspring International include:
- Heavy lift and subsea deployments
- Riser and Umbilical Tethers
-
Mid water arch tethering.
