Offspring Extends MIBreak Breakaway Coupling Agreement

Offspring International (OIL) will continue to offer the innovative MIBreak breakaway coupling for offloading hoses after extending its partnership with MIB Italiana. The MIBreak minimizes the effect of tanker breakout and internal pressure surge events during SPM offloading in terminals around the world.

The MIBreak features the unique capability for on-site reassembly after activation. Its petal valve design and passive monitoring, produces a marine breakaway coupling more in tune with the demands of today’s offshore environment for dedicated SPM terminal couplings. The petal valve design allows for a customised closure speed, preventing the risk of additional surge events upstream should the MIBreak activate, while onsite reactivation significantly reduces downtime.
