Record Year for Offspring SPM Ropes

Offspring International (OIL) achieved a record year for single point mooring (SPM) ropes in 2017, confirming its position as the world’s leading supplier of SPM hawsers. OIL has also extended its exclusive worldwide agency agreement for SPM ropes with Lankhorst Euronete Portugal.

“New projects in a number of fields, as well as, the continuation of our partnership with Lankhorst resulted in a very successful 2017. The combination of Lankhorst’s high quality hawsers and Offspring’s dedicated support provides terminal operators with excellent system service life,” commented OIL sales and marketing director, Mark Brooks.

Optimising Rope Service Life

Rope performance and service life are dependant on the local environmental and operational conditions. To optimise a rope’s service life operators should observe the specific mooring conditions experienced and develop dedicated inspection, handling and maintenance procedures in response to the mooring environment and operating practices.

Utilising Lankhorst’s dedicated rope testing facility in Portugal, Offspring International can assist operators to assess the performance of their single point mooring ropes; this enables moorings to be operated safely whilst maximising service life and minimising cost-of-ownership.
