Offspring Extends MIBreak Breakaway Coupling Agreement

Offspring International (OIL) will continue to offer the innovative MIBreak breakaway coupling for offloading hoses after extending its partnership with MIB Italiana. The MIBreak minimizes the effect of tanker breakout and internal pressure surge events during SPM offloading in terminals around the world.

The MIBreak features the unique capability for on-site reassembly after activation. Its petal valve design and passive monitoring, produces a marine breakaway coupling more in tune with the demands of today’s offshore environment for dedicated SPM terminal couplings. The petal valve design allows for a customised closure speed, preventing the risk of additional surge events upstream should the MIBreak activate, while onsite reactivation significantly reduces downtime.

Commenting on the MIBreak Mark Brooks, sales & marketing director, Offspring International said, “Tanker breakaway and internal pressure surges can pose a significant threat to offloading operations and the environment. The MIBreak marine breakaway coupling has set the benchmark for minimising oil leakage during testing and proven to provide long lasting protection to SPM offloading systems in the field”.
